St. George RN recognized for Nursing Leadership

Ermias Abraham started his career at St. George Care Community in Toronto, Ontario, as an RPN more than 12 years ago, and has grown personally and professionally in that time. He grew to become a Nurse Manager, and later, when he received his RN designation, was promoted to become Associate Director of Care. Ermias was recently recognized by the OLTCA with a Nursing Leadership Award for his exemplary leadership qualities.

As an Associate Director of Care, Ermias truly leads by example, treating everyone with kindness and respect. He shows appreciation for everyone’s unique qualities, from the residents to his colleagues. “He works alongside his team whenever and wherever he is needed, jumping in to complete personal care tasks for residents, portering residents during busy times, or assisting in doctors’ rounds if needed,” says Georgina Njoku, Director of Care, “Everything he does in the course of his day is to support residents and the team.”

As an agent of positive social change, Ermias was instrumental in leading various projects at St. George Care Community including important technology, safety and care projects. Ermias reflected on his OLTCA award and credited his success to “the collaboration with the front line team members, residents, families and leadership team” at St. George Care Community. “His leadership style leads to greater safety, excellent quality of care, and a sense of teamwork throughout the community,” says Georgina.

Congratulations, Ermias!
