Seniors Day Program in Kanata near Ottawa

Every day should hold something new and exciting. It’s something Red Oak Retirement Residence in Kanata, ON believes very strongly, which is why they’re now hosting a new day program in partnership with Recreational Respite.

“Seniors in the community will be able to enjoy a day program in the comfort of a beautiful space, and managed by an expert team,” said Lara Srdic, Senior General Manager at Red Oak Retirement Residence. “This program aims to offer respite care for caregivers at a very affordable rate, giving them peace of mind, and offering social engagement for seniors who require varying levels of support.”

The program will be open to, and complimentary for, any residents at Red Oak Retirement Residence who wish to join.

Day programs for seniors, also known as adult day programs, are a bit like summer camp and give seniors a chance to connect with their peers and enjoy stimulating activities. At the same time, they offer family and caregivers a chance to recharge or get some key errands finished. For seniors living in the community, they can be a key part of ensuring they continue to be able to live life to its fullest.

“This is the first session of what we hope to be many to come,” Lara said.

The day program at Red Oak will have four sessions, starting on March 25th and running into April. The 4-hour sessions will be held once per week on Wednesdays from 8AM to noon. They will feature a variety of activities, including: swimming, cooking, horticulture, computer classes, and arts & culture. The cost for participation in all four sessions, which each include a snack, is $240 + HST.
