Each month, we’re pausing to recognize some of the outstanding team members who work with us. Thank you for the work you do each day. You are all truly heroes.
Associate Director of Care and Infection Prevention and Control Lead at Fieldstone Commons Care Community
“As an Associate Director of Care with a background in nursing, the last year has provided incredible opportunities to learn. With the added responsibility as Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Lead for Fieldstone Commons, I knew I was taking on a challenge, but I have grown throughout this experience and gained so much valuable knowledge. I attended a weekly IPAC webinar that allowed me to keep up with the ever-changing regulations and better educate my fellow team members. I feel such a sense of achievement when I am able to share my knowledge and I’m incredibly proud of how tirelessly our team has worked to keep residents safe.”
Licensed Nurse Practitioner at The Cascades Care Community
“I’ve worked at Cascades for almost 11 years, and one of my main areas of focus is hospice care. It’s a unique and special position that is very close to my heart… I feel privileged to care for residents’ body, mind and spirit, being there for them and their families. I never feel as though I am going to work, because I love my job, the people I work with and the residents we care for. I’m so proud to be a nurse, especially in the last year… Seeing how hard our teams have worked to keep our communities safe has been nothing short of miraculous. No matter what kind of situation we face, we continue to support each other with gratitude and kindness.”
Personal Support Worker (PSW) at St. George Care Community
“I knew I wanted to become a PSW from a young age. I can recall visiting the hospital in my home country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and being so inspired by the nurses and PSW’s working there. Dressed in their white uniforms, they moved swiftly from patient to patient and exuded kindness and compassion. This inspired me to attend school to become a PSW, and I had my first placement right here at St. George. That was 40 years ago, and I am still just as passionate about the work I do. The residents we care for have led such unique and interesting lives, and I am both privileged and proud to care for them in this stage of life.”
Recreation and Rehab Assistant at Lake Country Lodge Retirement and Care Community
“I’ve worked at Sienna for almost three years and recently joined the Lake Country Lodge team as a Recreation and Rehabilitation Assistant. When I first started working with seniors, my role focused only on rehabilitation. I never thought I would end up switching gears to focus on recreation, but I’m glad I had the opportunity to do so. I love creating and facilitating programs that bring residents joy, and I consider it to be a great achievement any time I make one of them smile. One of my favourite activities to lead has to be Trivia — the residents are so smart and knowledgeable, and they love taking on a challenge! I feel much more confident in my new role and look forward to creating more programs that the residents love.”
