Margo strongly believes that downsizing is about building a space you love, filled with the things that bring you joy. Yes, along the way you’ll need to purge a few items that are no longer practical or inspiring, but that shouldn’t be the main focus. Instead, concentrate on creating a new, inviting space for you to enjoy.
In a recent webinar Margo revealed her five main steps to downsizing with ease and elaborated on some of the services and options available to seniors and their families.
An author and 15-year expert in seniors downsizing, Margo has seen it all. She is the CEO and founder of Move Seniors Lovingly, a company specializing in helping seniors to downsize.
“The number one question we get when working with a new client is ‘What do I do with all this stuff?’” Margo said. “The first step is to identify the things you love. Make a list of them. At this stage, don’t worry about what will fit in your home and don’t be too practical, just make a list of them. Whether it’s your favourite teacup or your father’s desk.”

Margo was joined on the webinar by Mark Lugowski, Executive Vice President of Retirement at Sienna Senior Living. Mark has a wealth of experience, having worked in retirement living for more than 15 years. He has served as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Ontario Retirement Communities Association. During the interview, he provided viewers with several tips for moving into retirement and what to look for in a reliable downsizing company.
Downsizing properly can be a stress-free process and one that alleviates future tensions. Margo works with her clients to ensure their belongings will fit in their new suite using a floorplan provided by the residence. She and her team also arrange the suite to the client’s liking as part of the service.
